2025 Ecuador: SAN LORENZO

The 20th edition of the Tehlička public collection for 2025 was entered by the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic into the register of public collections under registration number 000-2024-046150.

The Tehlička 2025 public collection closed on 30 June 2025.

The gross proceeds of the collection amount to €96,991.57. The costs of running the collection were 24.96 per cent. Net proceeds reached €72,786.10.

The San Lorenzo video offers a glimpse of the everyday life of local residents and the reasons why our help is so important.

Who did TEHLIČKA 2025 help?

The proceeds of the TEHLIČKA 2025 public collection were used to build a Salesian centre for street children and young people from an extremely poor background at the mission in San Lorenzo, where they are surrounded every day by all-pervading poverty and violence. We supported the running of vocational training courses, young people setting up their own businesses, and psychosocial support for children and families from the extremely poor environment of San Lorenzo in Ecuador.

San Lorenzo: Building a path to dignified work and safety in the heart of poverty

The mission is made up above all of Afro-Ecuadorians, descendants of former slaves, who have lived for many years in discrimination and poverty — and breaking free of it is extremely difficult, in most cases impossible. The Salesian centre in San Lorenzo wants to create a space that will serve young people for vocational training courses and at the same time support them in setting up their own businesses in an area where there are minimal prospects of honestly earned money. In addition, psychosocial support will be provided to Ecuadorian families, along with educational and leisure activities for children living in the streets of the mission, which is one of the poorest areas of Ecuador.

The collection directly involved 89 participants — 55 nursery, primary and secondary schools, 21 SDB youth centres and other communities, 11 parishes, as well as 1 company and 1 civic association in villages and towns across Slovakia.

All participants were sent promotional and background materials, which served not only for the collection campaign but also as resources for education and awareness-raising in the field of development assistance. As part of the collection, schools — with our consent — also carried out their own activities in support of its goal.

THANK YOU to all the classes, centres, parishes and families that took part in Tehlička 2025.  Thanks to you, goodness is spreading among children and young people, and together we are building a school that changes lives.

We financially supported the project “Through hygiene to better health” with the sum of EUR 9,000.
The project was carried out at the primary school in Tuutin-Entsa in Ecuador, located in the largest settlement of the parish where Father Anton Odrobiňák SDB serves. The school provides education to more than 250 pupils, and thanks to the project the first sanitary facilities — toilets, showers and washbasins — were built.
